Megan Scraper was fearless. Megan Scraper was inspirational. And when Megan Scraper put her mind to something, beneath that mane of hair, Megan Scraper was unstoppable. She was not always the biggest, strongest, or most skilled player on the field, but Scrapes had a heart that was unmatched. She was a great player, a great friend, and a great human being.

In 2018 we tragically lost Megan before her time. In this small way, we keep her memory alive. Each year, the Megan Scraper 'TRY' Scholarship is awarded to the graduating Legacy Academy athlete pursuing a post-secondary education who best embodies the spirit of Scrapes. The winning athlete will be one who pushes herself out of her comfort zone, takes on a new challenge, attempts something that scares her, or leads with the heart of a lion.

In 2026, the scholarship amount is $1000, thanks to a generous donation from the Scraper family to match the initial scholarship amount. The award will be handed out on June 23rd, Megan's birthday. Please apply below. Application deadline is May 21st. The winner is chosen by a small panel of Megan's friends.

While at Legacy Academy, we challenge our athletes to 'Be Great', Megan would simply challenge them to 'Try'.
